Evzoni border: Two four-hour blockades on Sunday

Evzoni border: Two four-hour blockades on Sunday

Athens, 28 December 2025 (MIA) – Greece’s Evzoni border crossing with the country will be closed Sunday for vehicles to enter and exist Greece from 11am to 3pm and again from 5pm to 9pm Macedonian time due to blockades erected by Greek farmers, MIA’s Athens correspondent reports.

The farmers, who have been blocking the border since December 1 with their tractors, have announced two four-hour blockades preventing passenger and freight vehicles from entering and exiting Greece.

For a few days before and after Christmas this past week, roads and borders were opened with farmers erecting roadblocks again on December 27 on several locations across Greece.

Blockades are expected to be removed this coming Tuesday until Friday to facilitate the movement of people travelling for the holidays. Yet, their plan is not to remove their tractors and farm vehicles completely, but keep them parked along national motorways.

Farmers in Greece started protesting on November 30 due to rising production costs and low sale prices of their products. They also demand payment of overdue subsidies.
