Eurobond in two parts, €500 million each, with different maturity to be issued in first quarter: minister

Skopje, 5 January 2026 (MIA) - Finance Minister Gordana Dimitrieska-Kochoska confirmed Monday that a new Eurobond will be issued in the first quarter that will be divided in two parts with different maturity.

"It will be in the first quarter, we're working on it," she told a news conference adding the public will be informed once the procedure starts. "It will be in two - two Eurobonds, 500 million euros each. If it's less than 500 million euros, the Eurobond is not attractive for investors, so we decided to issue two Eurobonds," Dimitrieska-Kochoska said at today's news conference.

We were considering whether to issue one, the minister said, but from my personal experience, unfortunately, it is now my obligation in the next four years to repay other people's overdue payments in abnormally high amounts, such as this year's 700 million euros, something that could perhaps have been made easier and organized in a different way.

"I've been thinking for a long time whether I should take out 950 million euros in loan leaving any future finance minister to be in a situation worse than I'm in now. Yet, professionalism prevailed and I decided to have two Eurobonds with different maturities so as to enable future ministers to focus more on other things the Finance Ministry is authorised to do," stated the minister.

The finances should be provided to repay a €700-million Eurobond issued in 2020, which is due in 2026.
