Washington, 14 February 2026 (dpa/MIA) - Three people were killed in a US military strike on a boat suspected of drug smuggling in the Caribbean, the US Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) said on Friday.

The vessel was travelling along a known trafficking route, SOUTHCOM said on X, citing intelligence reports. A military video said to show the attack was also posted. The details could not be independently verified.

The Trump administration has repeatedly targeted boats in the Caribbean and eastern Pacific since last autumn in an effort to disrupt international drug smuggling. Critics have questioned the legality of lethal strikes in international waters.

According to official figures, around 130 people have been killed in such operations so far.
