Skopje, 14 January 2026 (MIA) — The State Election Commission confirmed Wednesday Valbon Limani and Isen Shabani of the National Alliance for Integration, Oner Jakuposki of the coalition Your Macedonia and Arian İbrahim of the Democratic Party of Turks new mayors of Gostivar, Vrapchishte, Mavrovo Rostushe and Centar Zhupa, respectively.

SEC vice president Abdush Demiri urged municipal election commissions to act in accordance with the Electoral Code and immediately announce the final results of the Jan. 11 vote.

Previously, at the beginning of the session, SEC member Angelcho Ristov recalled that Gostivar's polling station 0782, under Article 104 Paragraph 2 of the Electoral Code, had been closed because of bad weather.

The 23 voters registered at that particular polling station did not get the chance to cast their ballots — but either way, their votes would have not made any difference in the mayoral election outcome, he said. mr/
