Skopje, 18 November 2025 (MIA) — Lawmakers from the SDSM group and Levica have moved a motion in Parliament to establish a parliamentary committee of inquiry into the Kochani nightclub fire, in response to requests from the bereaved families.

According to a SDSM press release, the committee of inquiry should scrutinize the safety issues at the facility, determine institutional failures and legal violations as well as allocate political responsibility.

Based on the findings, the committee should draft and submit a report to Parliament no later than a month after it completes the inquiry, the SDSM and Levica MPs proposed.

"We call on all MPs from all political parties to support this initiative and to actively participate," they said, urging Parliament to form the committee as soon as possible. mr/
