Prices up 0.2% in February

Skopje, 9 March 2026 (MIA) — Consumer prices rose 0.2% in February compared to January, according to the latest figures released by the State Statistical Office.
Sectors seeing prices rise included Education services by 4.0%, Clothing and footwear by 1.1%; Personal care, social protection and miscellaneous goods and services by 0.9%; Recreation, sport and culture as well as Alcoholic beverages, tobacco and narcotics by 0.3%.
The prices of Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels as well as of Food and non-alcoholic beverages rose by 0.2%.

Several categories saw prices drop in February. Transport costs fell 0.8%, followed by a 0.6% drop in health care costs and a 0.5% drop in household furnishings and routine household maintenance. Costs for information and communication (0.2%) and restaurants (0.1%) also dropped slightly.
Insurance and financial service prices remained unchanged.
"The retail price index in February 2026 compared to January 2026 was 99.7," the release said.
Year over year, the February consumer price index rose 2.9% from 2025. The retail price index saw a 1.6% increase. mr/
