President Siljanovska-Davkova meets Swiss President Parmelin in Dubai

Skopje, 3 February 2026 (MIA) - President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova met Tuesday with the President of the Swiss Confederation, Guy Parmelin, during which they reaffirmed the high level partnership between the two countries, founded on friendship, mutual trust and respect, the President’s Office said in a press release.

At the meeting, President Siljanovska-Davkova voiced her confidence in the continued development of political dialogue at the highest level and extended an invitation to President Parmelin for an official visit to the country. Noting that Switzerland is among the most significant bilateral donors in the country, the President thanked her counterpart over Swiss assistance in various areas.

“She highlighted the importance of the assistance that Switzerland is providing for the country’s strategic priorities, which, in her view, demonstrates Switzerland’s commitment to the stability, development, and European future of our region. The two presidents also shared the view that the large Macedonian community in Switzerland represents an important link in the development of relations between the two countries,” the President’s Office said.

The President called for further intensification of economic cooperation and trade, and an increase in Swiss direct investments.

“Siljanovska-Davkova expressed condolences for the tragedy at the nightclub in Crans-Montana on New Year’s Eve and the loss of human life, describing it as a terrible reminder of the tragedy in Kochani, which left lasting scars on Macedonian society,” her Office said.

The two presidents also exchanged views on current global developments.
