Mickoski: Our goal is to be the best in Western Balkans, EU to decide between bilateralization or objectivity

Skopje, 1 January 2026 (MIA) - Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said Thursday that reform agenda activities are ongoing and expects the country to top the Western Balkans by April.

"Most of the steps due by December have been completed and our goal is to be the best in the Western Balkans by April. We then leave it to the European Union to decide whether it will allow itself to be held hostage to bilateralization or assess candidate countries objectively," PM Mickoski told reporters.

He said a meeting on the progress of the reform agenda would take place over the weekend or early next week.

"We will see what has been done thus far and what needs to be completed. The Government has already passed a lot of legislation and many laws are already in the Parliament," said Mickoski.
