Dozens of patients treated on New Year's Eve

Skopje, 1 January 2026 (MIA) - Doctors at the clinical complex "Mother Teresa" in Skopje treated dozens of patients on New Year's Eve, for injuries sustained from traffic accidents, falls, fireworks, alcohol and firearms.

The number of injured persons is higher than previous years, with about 20 patients sent home after they were checked for light injuries.

No traffic accidents were recorded in Skopje, the reason being, most probably, the Safe City system.

Three patients have been treated for injuries sustained from high falls, while a two-year-old child is in critical condition after it was shot in the head. The circumstances around the incident are still unknown.

Eight fights were also registered, with six patients treated for injuries, while a person was treated for a gunshot wound after being shot in the elbow during an incident in Prilep.

In addition, 20 patients were treated for firework-related injuries.
