Skopje, 1 January 2026 (MIA) - Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said Thursday that pensions will see a linear increase in April.

"Pensions will see a linear increase in April, meaning that we'll continue to implement this policy. Latest statistical parameters by the State Statistical Office regarding the level of poverty and the Gini index justify the Government's policy for linear increase of pensions. We want to lower the poverty level of this group, thus reducing the Gini index that measures the income inequality among various groups. We are moving in the right direction," PM Mickoski told reporters.

The PM added that the country is the best in the region and surpassing the European average when it comes to the Gini coefficient, with the fight against poverty being one of the Government's top priorities
