Zagreb's Vjesnik skyscraper destroyed by fire, firefighters still battling the blaze

A report was received from members of the public about thick black smoke and visible flames coming from several floors of the Vjesnik building. Fire crews began extinguishing the blaze as soon as they arrived at the scene. The fire is spreading vertically and affecting multiple floors as well as the roof, which prompted a request for additional personnel and equipment.
Sixteen vehicles and 44 firefighters from the Zagreb Public Fire Brigade have been deployed, along with four vehicles and nine firefighters from volunteer fire brigade units.
According to the latest reports by local media outlets, the fire on the skyscraper, a landmark of Zagreb, was still burning on early Tuesday morning.
Local streets were closed to traffic. There were no injuries, according to the first reports.
