Vardar and Red Star to play friendly match in Skopje next month in honour of Kochani fire victims

Skopje, 18 March 2025 (MIA) – Former European and world football champion, Red Star, and the most successful Macedonian club, Vardar, will play a humanitarian friendly match.
Vardar's CEO, Milenko Nedelkovski, and Red Star's director, Zvezdan Terzic, agreed that the two clubs will meet in Skopje on April 16.
“FC Vardar expresses immense gratitude to its great football friends and their army of fans for this infinitely great humanitarian gesture. The two clubs will sign the agreement tomorrow. We also express our great gratitude to the legend of Vardar and Red Star, Ilija Najdoski, whose mediation made this spectacle possible,” FC Vardar said.
The funds raised from the match will be donated to the families of the victims of the Kocani tragedy.
At Monday’s press conference, the coach of the Serbian national football team, Dragan Stojkovic-Pixi, proposed that a charity match should be played between Serbia and Macedonia in honor of the victims of the nightclub fire, which killed 59 people and left more than 150 were injured.
