Union representatives to meet with Gov’t

Union representatives to meet with Gov’t

Skopje, 9 April 2025 (MIA) - Representatives of trade unions in the country have been summoned to a meeting in the Government on Wednesday, with no information yet on what will be discussed.

Ahead of the meeting, representatives of the Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia (SSM) told journalists they have been invited to a meeting with no announced point of discussion.

“We want to tell government officials that we unanimously adopted a decision at a public session of the highest bodies of SSM that unless they raise the minimum wage and all other wages, and if public sector wages aren’t raised by 12.6 percent, they will have to survive with a minimum wage,” SSM leader Slobodan Trendafilov said.

The minimum wage was raised in April by Mden 1.800 (EUR 30) and currently stands at (EUR 400). SSM demands that the minimum wage is increased to Mden 30.000 (EUR 487) as well as all other wages in line with the living costs.
