Taravari: PM decides over AA leaving Gov't, let's be rational and not rush

Skopje, 24 April 2025 (MIA) - Asked whether his bloc of the Alliance for Albanians (AA) party would also leave the Government by possibly leaving the Vlen (Worth It) coalition, Arben Taravari said the Prime Minister forms the Government and he decides whether the AA should be part of the Government.

In response to reporters' questions during Thursday's visit to Kumanovo, the Minister of Health and leader of the AA bloc said possibly leaving the Vlen (Worth It) coalition "does not necessarily mean" leaving the Government because, he added, "the Government is formed by the Prime Minister".

"I have spoken with the Prime Minister and we will speak again. If he thinks that the Alliance for Albanians should not be part of the Government, we have no problem. However, I believe that the AA is needed at the moment. But if they make such a decision, we have no problem. No one else can say that except the one who forms the Government. We will see in the coming days, let's not rush, we need to be as rational as possible at this time," said Taravari.

He believes there are emotional reactions with the partner parties in the Vlen coalition after his decision for AA to run with its own list of candidates for council members in the local elections. According to him, if they are firmly decided in terms of what they are stating over the recent days, his political party will consider options for its own mayoral candidates.

He said he has decided that AA would have its own list of candidates for council members "just as ZNAM decided to come out with its own list of candidates for council members, but mutual political support with VMRO-DPMNE".

"We also offered Vlen – we are coming out with our list of candidates for council members, if they are ready, we are here. I see emotional reactions from what is left in Vlen. During this period we need to be very careful, very smart and try to be as rational as possible because this is about politics. I would not like to make forecasts or predictions at this time, I am looking to make decisions as justified as possible. Ultimately, if Vlen are firmly decided in terms of what they are saying over the past four-five days, we as a political party will look at our options for our own mayoral candidates," Taravari said.
