Skopje, 24 December 2025 (MIA) – National Bank Governor Trajko Slaveski expects that 2026 will wrap up with an inflation of 4% or close to 4%, which is in line with the central bank’s projections.
Answering a journalist’s question at Wednesday’s press conference, Slaveski said that according to next year’s expectations, inflation will keep on dropping to reach between 2.5 and 3 percent. In the mid-term, a historic low of two percent is expected to be recorded, he said.
“There was a downward trend in inflation in the first months of the year, which accelerated, to the surprise of many. However, this past summer we even recorded months of deflation, -0.2 percent in August compared to July, I think. There are slight changes in the coming months. October recorded a growth of 4.5%. Projections and expectations suggest that annual inflation this year will be according to our projection, which is about 4 or close to 4 percent. Our projection was 3.9 percent,” stated Slaveski.
Statistical data on inflation in December are expected to be released on January 8. According to statistics, November recorded an increase by 4 percent of costs for living at annual level.
