Seven police officers from Kochani and Shtip suspected of grave crimes against general safety
Skopje, 19 March 2025 (MIA) - A public prosecutor from the Specialized Department for Prosecuting Crimes Committed by Persons with Police Authorizations and Members of the Prison Police has ordered an investigation into seven police officers suspected of grave crimes against the general safety and has proposed that all seven be placed in detention.
“As officials employed in the Shtip and Kochani police, the suspects, by drafting, signing and approving, enabled the legal entity to acquire a license for a cabaret, even though the building did not meet the legal conditions for that. Together, the suspects have caused significant risk for human lives and physical health, by allowing the cabaret to operate in substandard conditions which resulted in a fire at the building on 16.03.2025 in which 59 people died, and 196 suffered serious bodily harm,” the Public Prosecutor’s Office said in a press release on Wednesday.
