Skopje, 31 March 2026 (MIA) — The country's new Chief Public Prosecutor Nenad Saveski met Tuesday with EU Ambassador Michalis Rokas to discuss cooperation priorities and continued EU support for the institution.

According to a press release from the Public Prosecutor’s Office, Saveski described the meeting as both a confirmation of ongoing cooperation and an incentive for future projects.

Rokas congratulated Saveski on his recent election to the post, one of the highest positions in the judiciary.

During their meeting, they discussed priorities such as the fight against corruption and the need to restore public trust in the judicial system.

Saveski and Rokas also agreed that a stable budget was essential to strengthening the PPO's capacity. Rokas expressed support for the prosecution’s independence and highlighted the importance of increasing transparency.

Saveski thanked the EU for its ongoing support of the PPO as well as its commitment to the country's rule of law. mr/
