Skopje, 14 August 2024 (MIA) - Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski posted on his official Facebook profile that he met with Lidl management team Wednesday at the government, discussing the challenges and administrative issues encountered by the German supermarket chain with the previous government.
“Today, I had a meeting with some members of Lidl’s management, who have been working for a while to start their investment in the country. We discussed the many difficulties and administrative barriers they encountered under the previous government. Investors who want to contribute to economic progress and employ Macedonian citizens must not be sidelined. We will expedite the process, and soon we will have Lidl supermarket chains,” as stated in Prime Minister Mickoski's Facebook post.
Lidl is the largest grocery retail chain in Europe. Alongside Kaufland, it is part of the Schwarz Group, which is headquartered in Neckarsulm, Germany. The chain operates in 31 countries, running approximately 12,000 stores and employing over 360,000 people. Lidl has been operating in our country since September 2021.
