Skopje, 31 May 2026 (MIA) - The construction of the Prilep-Bitola highway is progressing at an excellent pace, and the first kilometers of the new motorway section are expected to be completed as early as next spring, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Aleksandar Nikoloski said Sunday during a visit to the Municipality of Mogila, adding that the project will be of great importance for the development of the entire Pelagonia region.
Nikoloski said that the planned deadlines for the construction will be met.
“The construction dynamics of the Prilep-Bitola highway are excellent, we are working at a strong pace, and the deadlines will be respected. I expect that by next spring we will already have the first kilometers of highway on this section, which will greatly improve movement, the economy and connectivity not only between Prilep and Bitola, but also the municipalities of Mogila and Novaci, as well as Resen and Demir Hisar,” he said.
He stressed that the new highway section will contribute to better transport connectivity, faster travel, and new opportunities for the region’s economic development.
“This will mean a lot for revitalizing the entire region and for boosting the economy, considering that a significant part of the country’s economy is located in the Pelagonia region,” Nikoloski added.
