New ministers to be elected at Parliament’s 75th session
- Parliament is set to hold its 75th session Wednesday, which includes the election of new Ministers of European Affairs and Environment.
Skopje, 24 December 2025 (MIA) – Parliament is set to hold its 75th session Wednesday, which includes the election of new Ministers of European Affairs and Environment.
The first agenda item is the proposal to dismiss Orhan Murtezani as Minister of European Affairs, while MP and former Health Minister Bekim Sali is proposed as the new Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of European Affairs.
The government reshuffle comes after the October local elections, following Izet Mexhiti’s assumption of office as mayor of Chair, which ended his tenure as First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Environment and Physical Planning. Former government spokesperson Muhamed Hoxha has been put forward as the new Minister of Environment.
The agenda also includes the appointment of a non-executive member of the National Bank, the ratification of Additional Protocol 7 on dispute settlement to the amended CEFTA Agreement, a draft law on borrowing from the EBRD to finance the “Freight Rolling Stock Renewal” project of Macedonian Railways - Transport AD Skopje, as well as amendments to the laws on games of chance and on value added tax, all under an expedited procedure.
MPs are also set to review several draft decisions related to annual programmes of institutions, including the 2026 annual programme of the Agency for Postal Services, the 2026 work and development programme of the Railway Sector Regulatory Agency and the Revised Fiscal Strategy of North Macedonia for 2026-2030.
