Mickoski: We have MANU, we should be uniting rather than dividing in the future

Skopje, 29 July 2024 (MIA) – VMRO-DPMNE’s position is clear – we have the Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Artsm (MANU), which brings together scholars from different ethnic background, and we should be making efforts to enrich the scientific thinking, because it is the future, Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said Monday asked to comment on the Worth It coalition’s initiative for the formation of an Albanian academy of science.

After a meeting with officials of the Chamber of Commerce of the North West Macedonia, Mickoski stressed that the future lies in uniting rather than in dividing.

Asked whether the government coalition is stable considering the emerging opposing views, Mickoski said that there is sincere and principled cooperation with all coalition partners.

Asked to comment on the relationship between the coalition partners Worth It and ZNAM, the PM confirmed that they have established principled cooperation.

“At home, not all family members always agree on everything, certain misunderstandings will arise at times, but you should always settle them during a dialogue in a democratic atmosphere. We’ve been functioning like this for five weeks now,” stated Mickoski.

Officials and the leaders of the parties comprising the Worth It coalition over the weekend met with the association named “Albanian Academy of Sciences and Arts” in Tetovo announcing that the municipalities will fund the association. They also said measures will be taken to establish an academy as a public institution. The announcement was met with backlash by the coalition partners in the government – VMRO-DPMNE and ZNAM, as well as by the opposition parties SDSM and DUI.
