Mickoski from Munich after high-level meetings: Pleasant surprises for Macedonian citizens and for Macedonia

Skopje, 14 February 2026 (MIA) — Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski in Munich for the 62nd Munich Security Conference continued his dynamic diplomatic agenda with a series of bilateral meetings.

In a statement given to the press in Munich, PM Mickoski said he had held meetings with Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof and American Jewish Committee CEO Ted Deutch; attended the address by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio; and announced upcoming meetings with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Special Presidential Envoy for Special Missions of United States Ambassador Richard Grenell.

At the meeting with Deutch, Mickoski said he had discussed "global security challenges, as well as peace, which should always be a goal that we as politicians must strive for."

The PM described Rubio's speech as exceptionally inspiring.

“In his address, he once again emphasized global challenges, primarily security-related ones, but also what is especially important to him and what was particularly important in his speech — the inseparable bond between Europe as a continent and America as a continent, or more precisely, as he called America, a child of Europe. His main message was that as partners and friends we need to continue to cooperate globally, not only within the NATO alliance, but also to resolve all security and economic challenges facing our two different continents — Europe and America,” Mickoski said.

At the bilateral meeting with Dutch Prime Minister Schoof, Mickoski discussed three important issues for the country.

“First, we are in the same constituency together with the Netherlands in the United Nations Security Council and the International Monetary Fund. Second, Dutch investments in Macedonia as well as cooperation with the multinational company Philips and opportunities for cooperation in the healthcare sector. The third topic we discussed was Macedonia’s European integration process within the European Union,” Mickoski said.

He said his day would continue with other meetings and talks. “Stay tuned! We continue with good news, we continue with pleasant surprises for Macedonian citizens and for Macedonia,” Mickoski said. mr/
