Skopje, 19 February 2026 (MIA) - The governments of North Macedonia and Slovakia signed a Memorandum of Understanding as part of Thursday's Business Forum in Skopje, remaining steadfast in supporting business cooperation while seeking opportunities to enhance business partnerships and exchange experiences and expertise.
Participants in the forum highlighted significant potential that needs to be tapped into, noting that energy, ICT, the automotive industry, healthcare, and tourism are just some of the sectors where cooperation can be intensified.

"We already have some ongoing trade in the automotive industry and certain chemical products, but we believe there is new potential in energy, ICT and the automotive industry. We also want to look into the export capacities on both sides because we are focused not only on attracting investments, but also increasing export potentials, especially in industries with high added value, such as Macedonian wine, which we are strongly promoting," Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Timcho Mucunski said ahead of the forum on Thursday.
He added that efforts have been ongoing for an extended period to organize a visit by a delegation from Slovakia to the country, together with representatives from the business community, so as to enable direct contact with Macedonian companies and chambers of commerce.

According to the Minister of Finance of the Slovak Republic, Ladislav Kamenický, entrepreneurs are the driving force of economic growth, catalysts for innovation and a bridge between countries, people with vision, courage, as well as a desire for cooperation and achieving results.
Kamenitzky noted that today's forum is a platform where ideas, experiences and innovations converge.
"This is a signal that we all have a desire to boost cooperation and strengthen the ongoing partnership. I encourage all participants to use the platform for the exchange of ideas and future cooperation. I believe that today we are starting a success story through mutual support, assistance and cooperation," the Minister pointed out.

He mentioned the ICT industry, infrastructure, energy, healthcare, tourism and agriculture as potential areas for cooperation, where Slovakia can offer expertise, especially in the area of new technologies and automated production processes to achieve greater added value and productivity, as well as waste minimization.
Sensor monitoring, management and automation of processes are just a segment of the Slovak support that the country can receive.
