Iran executes man accused of spying for Israel's Mossad

Tehran, 18 March 2026 (dpa/MIA) – Iran executed a man on Wednesday for allegedly spying for Israel's foreign intelligence service Mossad, the Tasnim news agency reported.

The man was arrested in a rural region west of the capital Tehran during the 12-day war between Israel and Iran in June.

The man was accused of providing images and information on sensitive locations to the Mossad, the agency reported.

Tehran has detained numerous people suspected of spying for Israel since the war in June. Unconfirmed reports suggest more than 10 have been executed.

Human rights groups have long criticized Iran for its heavy use of the death penalty, saying it is often employed to suppress dissent. According to the United Nations, more than 1,000 people were executed in the country last year.
