Skopje, 23 December 2025 (MIA) — The government has decided to declare an electricity supply crisis nationwide due to the inability to procure heavy fuel oil for the country's electricity generation system.

Adopted at the proposal of the Steering Committee for Coordination and Management of the Crisis Management System, the decision to declare an electricity supply crisis will be in force for seven days from the day of its entry into force, the government said in a press release.

"The mandatory reserves of the oil derivative will be distributed without compensation, and Power Plants will be tasked with reporting to the government and the Ministry of Finance on its heavy fuel oil consumption," the release said. mr/
