Gashi: Constituents not happy with their representatives' conduct in Parliament

Bitola, 14 March 2025 (MIA) — The Code of Ethics will help lawmakers conduct themselves with more dignity in Parliament, Parliament Speaker Afrim Gashi said Friday in Bitola, commenting on the adoption of a parliamentary code of conduct.

"I think citizens are not satisfied with the level of political discourse and political conduct that exists in Parliament," Gashi said.

"Even if it were good, we should be always asking for more," he said, adding that the Code of Ethics would contribute "to raising the dignity of each lawmaker as an individual and also of Parliament as one of the most important state institutions."

Gashi was in Bitola to encourage constituents to meet with their representatives as part of a project supported by the Swiss Embassy and the National Democratic Institute.

Accompanied by members of Parliament Olga Lozanovska, Silvana Angelevska, Pece Milevski and Bisera Kostadinovska-Stojchevska as well as Mayor Toni Konjanovski, the parliament speaker promoted the local MPs' renovated offices and urged Bitola citizens to visit them and exercise their right to directly contact their representatives. mr/
