Gashi and Zungu commit to strengthening parliamentary cooperation

Skopje, 1 June 2026 (MIA) - As part of the Plenary Session of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace held in Skopje on Monday, Parliament Speaker Afrim Gashi met with the Speaker of the National Assembly of Tanzania, Mussa Azzan Zungu, highlighting readiness to promote bilateral and parliamentary cooperation between the two countries.

"Expressing satisfaction with this first bilateral meeting, interlocutors expressed readiness to move forward with parliamentary cooperation by establishing friendship groups in the legislative houses of the two countries, which could open the door and contribute to economic cooperation with Tanzania, given that Africa is a developing market," the Parliament said in a press release.

The two Speakers also mentioned the upcoming Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly, scheduled to take place in Arusha, Tanzania, in October 2026, as a significant opportunity to promote the country as a factor of stability in East Africa, while strengthening international cooperation by bringing together parliamentarians from around the world to foster dialogue, share best practices, and build partnerships on global challenges such as sustainable development, peace, and democratic governance.
