Dimitrieska Kochoska: Projected growth of 3.7 percent realistic

Skopje, 23 April 2025 (MIA) - The projected growth of the country's economy at 3.7 percent is realistic, said Finance Minister Gordana Dimitrieska Kochoska on Wednesday.

"We can use this crisis and the great uncertainty it produces in the sense of transfer of facilities from European countries. These facilities are closing because tariffs lead to higher procurement prices, meaning that the European market will seek for alternatives, namely opening capacities where the workforce is cheaper. The workforce in our country is not cheap but it is lower than the European level. Therefore, I believe that the 3.7-percent projection is realistic," Minister Dimitrieska Kochoska told Macedonian media after the release of IMF's World Economic Outlook.

She says the IMF wants to see fiscal consolidation in the country, but adds that things cannot change overnight and "it will take more time".

Dimitrieska Kochoska is taking part at the IMF/World Bank Spring Meetings in Washington, and is set to meet with senior officials of the two international financial organizations and representatives of the United States Department of the Treasury.
