Skopje, 19 May 2026 (MIA) - Minister of Energy, Mining and Mineral Resources Sanja Bozhinovska told a meeting of the Just Transition Council on Tuesday that decarbonization is a concrete roadmap and a task on the country's path to the European Union.

"When we speak about decarbonization, we are not referring to an abstract goal but a concrete roadmap that is part of our tasks on the EU path. For this process to be real and sustainable, we need to embed it in the strategic documents, programmes and planning of all institutions that are part of this agenda," said Minister Bozhinovska.

The Council focused on institutional coordination, alignment with the Reform Agenda, ensuring financial support and the measures to support energy sector employees, the Ministry of Energy, Mining and Mineral Resources said in a press release. 

Council members made an overview of the Annual Just Transition Plan, noting that activities are moving in the right direction, while highlighting the need for stronger institutional coordination and mobilization of financial instruments in support of priority activities.

The meeting also tackled the alignment of the Decarbonization Roadmap with the strategic documents and programmes of institutions involved in the process, as well as ensuring a coordinated approach in the implementation of energy transition-related reforms, reads the press release.
