Skopje, 18 February 2026 (MIA) — Minister of Energy, Mining and Minerals Sanja Bozhinovska held Wednesday a working meeting with Nedim Rama, CEO of the state-owned natural gas transmission operator Nomagas, to discuss the development of the country's gas infrastructure.

According to a press release from the Ministry of Energy, Mining and Minerals, Bozhinovska and Rama evaluated the construction progress of the interconnector with Greece, which is one of the country's most important strategic energy projects.

They also discussed the preparations for the construction of the interconnector with Serbia, reviewing the progress of administrative activities as well as the ongoing communication and coordination with the Serbian side.

Meeting participants agreed that regional gas connection is an important step toward diversifying sources of supply and increasing energy security, the release said.

They also talked about long-term strategies for expanding the national gas grid to increase energy access for industry, municipalities and households as well as promoting the energy transition and curbing emissions through cleaner alternatives.

Bozhinovska highlighted the need to speed up infrastructure projects, noting that expanding the gas network is a strategic priority crucial for economic stability, competitiveness and energy security. mr/
