Army Chief of Staff Lafchiski meets U.S. Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mahoney
- Army Chief of Staff, Major-General Sashko Lafchiski, who is paying a visit to the United States Armed Forces, met with Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Christopher Mahoney, at the Pentagon on Thursday, reaffirming the 30-year partnership and cooperation between the two armies.
Skopje, 6 March 2026 (MIA) - Army Chief of Staff, Major-General Sashko Lafchiski, who is paying a visit to the United States Armed Forces, met with Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Christopher Mahoney, at the Pentagon on Thursday, reaffirming the 30-year partnership and cooperation between the two armies.
General Lafchiski highlighted the Army's commitment to regional and global security through the deployment of its troops in peacekeeping operations and NATO missions, including in the Forward Land Forces in Bulgaria, Romania and Latvia, the Ministry of Defense said in a press release.
Lafchiski briefed Mahoney on the procurement of light armored vehicles Stryker and Joint Light Tactical Vehicles (JLTVs), along with other modern armament and equipment.
The Chief of Staff also emphasized the importance of Krivolak army field as a strategic capacity for large-scale training, including the possibilities for its development through enhancement of infrastructure, modernization and enlargement of its capacities.
Interlocutors also discussed current global challenges, with a focus on the Middle East conflict, as well as the need for continued adaptation of the Army's capacities and strengthening of regional and international cooperation in managing contemporary threats, reads the press release.
