Skopje, 30 December 2024 (MIA) - Quizzed by journalists Monday about former Deputy Prime Minister Artan Grubi, who is suspected in a case about the misappropriation of funds at the State Lottery and is currently unavailable for law enforcement, the United States Ambassador Angela Aggeler said she doesn’t have any comments on what’s happening with Grubi, but stressed the importance of holding people accountable for their actions.

“I don’t have any comments on what’s happening with Artan Grubi, I don’t know where he is. I think it’s important that people are held accountable for their actions, and I hope that he is one of them,” Aggeler said.

Regarding the procedure for the dismissal of the members of the Judicial Council that are elected by Parliament, Aggeler also said there should be accountability, but noted that the process should be transparent.

“I’ve been pretty clear and we at the Embassy have been pretty clear what we think in terms of the Judicial Council and other institutions within the judiciary. Again, there should be accountability but the process within that should also be transparent, so that the citizens understand what is happening and why,” she said.
