Toshkovski: Four arrested in two days for violence against women, political spectacles won’t stop justice

Skopje, 7 March 2026 (MIA) - Two people were arrested Friday in connection with domestic violence and have been placed in 30-day detention. Today, two more suspects will face fast-track legal proceedings, one for domestic violence and the other for stalking a woman. This is a clear message that violence and harassment will not be tolerated, Interior Minister Panche Toshkovski posted on social media.

He stressed that, as Interior Minister, he wants to send a clear message that the Ministry acts without compromise. Anyone who raises a hand against another person or thinks they can harass, stalk or intimidate a woman will face the institutions and the law.

“I urge all citizens, especially victims of domestic violence and harassment, to report incidents. The institutions are now ready to protect you, quickly and decisively. As for those who today play moral judges and hold press conferences with ‘bloody hands,’ trying to turn tragedies into political spectacles-let them continue. Those same people have treated the police for years as a tool to protect their own criminal and party interests, instead of as an institution that safeguards citizens. Our response will not be press conferences, but arrests, legal proceedings, and institutions that finally work,” Toshkovski said.

Toshkovski’s statement follows a press conference today by SDSM and Kaja Shukova, who, with 'bloody hands,' blamed him for the suicide of a woman and her daughter in Skopje’s Taftalidze.
