Skopje, 24 April 2025 (MIA) – A total of 63 municipalities submitted 450 applications by Wednesday to the Ministry of Local Self-Government for the second public call for funding municipal infrastructure projects.
Speaking at a press conference at the Government, Minister of Local Self-Government Zlatko Perinski said that 36 municipalities submitted projects reaching the maximum funding amount based on the per capita formula, 27 municipalities still have room to apply for additional funds, and 17 have not submitted any applications.
Perinski noted that the municipalities of Saraj, Centar, Chair, Shuto Orizari, Lipkovo, Probishtip, Valandovo, Rosoman, Bogovinje, Vrapchishte, Mavrovo Rostushe, Tearce, Debar, Struga, Bitola, Krushevo and Dolneni, did not submit any applications.
He called on all local authorities to use this opportunity and meet the legal application deadline, which ends on April 30.
“The second public call made available up to Mden 15 billion for capital and infrastructure projects. The first call demonstrated that the most interest was in road infrastructure, with 225 out of 288 projects aimed at upgrading roads, implemented through the Ministry of Transport,” Perinski said.
“So far, over 330 of the 450 applications received in the second public call are focused on upgrading road infrastructure,” Perinski said.
He added that there are also projects to improve living standards, such as environmental initiatives and the construction of schools, kindergartens, and sports halls.
"The deadlines for implementing the projects from the first public call are set by the municipalities," he said.
