Nikoloski: Growth in construction sector an incentive for future investments

Skopje, 6 March 2026 (MIA) - The data on a 14.6 percent growth in the construction sector in the last quarter of 2025 are very encouraging and represent an incentive for future investments, leading to larger GDP growth in the coming period, Deputy PM and Transport Minister Aleksandar Nikoloski told a panel discussion themed "Economic Growth - Economic Security of Citizens" in the Government on Friday.

Minister Nikoloski said the 21-percent growth in construction in Q3 and the 14.6-percent rise in Q4 are "fantastic numbers", coming as a result of the private sector's encouragement to invest due to favorable interest rates of the Hungarian loan, municipal investments subsidized by the government and large infrastructure projects across the country.

"Several infrastructure projects are in the pipeline, such as the construction of the Kichevo-Ohrid motorway, with 34 km already into operation and 20 km yet to be completed. Works are also ongoing on motorway sections Tetovo-Gostivar, Gostivar-Bukojchani and Prilep-Bitola, with over 50 percent of routes already broken through. In the railway sector, the first stage of the City Train is underway and the project is set to be finished by June," noted Nikoloski.
