Skopje, 23 December 2025 (MIA) - The National Development Strategy 2024-2044 was adopted through consensual approach and broad inclusion, while observing the principles of transparency, accountability and partnership. The document has laid the foundations for long-term development, defining the vision of where the country wants to be in the next two decades, said Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski in the opening remarks of the National Council for Development, which held its fourth session on Tuesday.
"Several significant activities related to the implementation of this strategic document were realized after its adoption. The process of implementing and monitoring its realization continued with the involvement of a broad specter of stakeholders - citizens, experts, academicians, representatives of the business community and civil society. This open and participatory approach is our strong suit and a guarantee that the strategy will not be only cold facts on paper but turn into real policies and tangible results," said PM Mickoski.

Government members have been informed in detail over the measures included in the strategy, whereas ministries and state institutions have been tasked with undertaking specific activities for their further realization.
"Although we are still at the beginning of this long process, practice has shown that the public and the stakeholders are ready to actively contribute towards joint identification of challenges and ways to overcome them. This is the essence of modern and responsible management with the country's development, but also a key prerequisite for successful fulfillment of tasks within the Euro-integration process," noted Mickoski.

The PM added that the formation of an interparty group for monitoring of the strategy's progress reaffirms the fact that the document is a product of a broad societal consensus, which is a strong message of political maturity and responsibility.
"This is also an added mechanism to ensure coordination between the executive and legislative branches, as well as other relevant stakeholders, with the aim of promoting long-term strategic thinking, inclusive policies, transparency and accountability. Such an approach - open, inclusive and based on dialogue - gradually contributes to the creation of a stable strategic framework with a clear development vision, one that includes a competitive and stable economy, sustainable growth, societal cohesion and security, demographic revitalization, green transition, strengthening of the human capital and innovative capacities, with a focus on digital transformation," said Mickoski.

He added that the goal is clear - long-term, sustainable and fair development that will ensure better quality of life for all citizens, economic stability, institutional security and a state that is prepared to respond to future challenges.
