Skopje, 26 December 2025 (MIA) – Yesterday’s police operation in which 35 tons of pyrotechnics were discovered and seized is a proof that the Interior Ministry conducts an unyielding fight especially against organized crime, Interior Minister Panche Toshkovski said Friday.

Boxes of pyrotechnic means have been supplied for years, he said speaking to reporters after a promotion of 120 new police cars at an event at the Interior Ministry in Skopje. Toshkovski said that according to his information, what is perhaps one of the biggest importers of these illegal devices in the country is involved.

“We’re demonstrating determination and commitment as regards this case. More details will be revealed by the end of the day. Regarding other activities of the Ministry, we’re in the ground taking measures to maintain security across the country,” stated the minister.

Toshkovski confirmed that security in the country is stable and police forces will be deployed on New Year’s eve and throughout the holiday season especially in places frequented the most.

“We’ll take all necessary steps in order to meet the needs of the citizens,” he said.
