Interior Ministry buys 120 police cars equipped with modern tetra systems

Skopje, 26 December 2025 (MIA) – Security and curbing crime and corruption in the country is the government’s top priority and the Interior Ministry is an unbreakable link in this process, Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said speaking at Friday’s promotion of 120 new police cars.

Mickoski congratulated the Interior Ministry’s staff and the minister for the successful procurement and project noting that the new cars will significantly improve police force’s mobility.

“We, the government, will continue to support this kind of projects,” he stated adding he expected the new cars “not to be used very much”, which would mean there’s less crime in the country.

This is the first procurement of its kind in more than 15 years, said Interior Minister Panche Toshkovski adding that the new cars have state-of-the-art technology.

“The vehicles are equipped with modern tetra systems necessary for police officers to check identity and obtain all the data we have at the Ministry,” said Toshkovski.

He said money from the budget were saved to implement the project.

“The total value was estimated at about 232 million denars. We paid 202 million, meaning we saved some 30 million denars,” the minister said concluding that the project to enhance the capacities of the Interior Ministry was successful.
