Skopje, 6 March 2026 (MIA) - Industrial production in January decreased by 6.6 percent compared to the same month in 2025, said the State Statistical Office on Friday.

Industrial production in section Mining and quarrying increased by 2.5%, in section Manufacturing it decreased by 8.0%, while in section Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply it increased by 2.8%.

Decrease in section Manufacturing is mostly due to decreased production in the divisions: Manufacture of textiles; Manufacture of wearing apparel; Manufacture of chemicals and chemical products; Manufacture of basic pharmaceutical product and pharmaceutical preparations; Manufacture of rubber and plastic products; Manufacture of basic metals; Manufacture of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment; Manufacture of electrical equipment; Manufacture of machinery and equipment n.e.c.; and Manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers.

Industrial production by Main Industrial Groupings was lower in Intermediate goods, except energy by 4.2%, Capital goods by 5.2%, Durable consumer goods by 10.5% and Non-durable consumer goods by 11.9%, but higher in Energy by 2.5%.
