Skopje, 27 January 2025 (MIA) - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade marked International Holocaust Remembrance Day on Monday with the opening of an exhibition from Israel’s Yad Vashem memorial, titled “Auschwitz a Place on Earth. The Auschwitz Album”.
In a post on his official Facebook profile, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Timcho Mucunski said he addressed the opening of the exhibition, noting the importance of remembering the tragic events from the Holocaust and paying his respects to the victims, especially the Macedonian Jews who were deported to Treblinka extermination camp in 1943.
“I stressed that, as a full-fledged member of IHRA [International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance], our country remains committed to the fight against antisemitism and the distortion of historical facts. I believe that through the consistent education of young generations, we will be able to prevent antisemitic acts and hatred in all their forms. This day is a reminder of our duty to stand against prejudice and hatred, but also an opportunity to affirm our joint engagement in preserving values such as pluralism, diversity and freedom. I hope that through such activities we will continue to nurture the memory and transfer the significance of this tragedy to future generations,” Mucunski wrote on Facebook.
