Environment Ministry: PM10 particle alert threshold exceeded at several measuring stations in Skopje
- The Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning said Friday that the PM10 particle alert threshold has been exceeded at several measuring stations in Skopje, including Centar, Gazi Baba, Karposh, Lisiche and the Rectorate, according to data from the State Automatic Monitoring System and the national weather service.
Skopje, 19 December 2025 (MIA) - The Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning said Friday that the PM10 particle alert threshold has been exceeded at several measuring stations in Skopje, including Centar, Gazi Baba, Karposh, Lisiche and the Rectorate, according to data from the State Automatic Monitoring System and the national weather service.
The PM10 particle alert threshold is exceeded when 150 мg/m3 are measured two days in a row.
According to the Environment Ministry, the following PM10 particle alert recommendations and measures enter into force:
- To start performing frequent control of the Installations that have an A-IPPC permit.
- To start performing frequent control of the Installations that have a B-IPPC permit and elaborates.
- Installations with ongoing monitoring should enable public access to measured data.
- To start performing frequent control of the technical condition of vehicles, especially those using diesel fuel as well as unregistered vehicles.
- To start performing frequent control on construction sites.
- To ban outdoor burning.
- Recommend to all legal entities (employers) to release pregnant women, people over 60 years of age, as well as people with chronic asthma, previous myocardial infarction or stroke, regardless of age, with the recommendation of a family doctor.
- Recommend to all legal entities (employers) to reorganize the working hours and the persons working outdoors to work from 11:00 a.m. till 5:00 p.m.
- Recommend not to organize sports competitions and other cultural events outdoors.
