Energy Minister: 2025 annual plan foresees investments of around €1.4 billion

Skopje, 22 December 2025 (MIA) – Construction of energy facilities with a total capacity of 1,265 MW is planned for 2025, representing about €1.4 billion in investments, Minister of Energy, Mining and Mineral Resources Sanja Bozhinovska said Monday.

As Bozhinovska informed during a briefing with journalists, of the total 1,265 MW, 15 are hydro, 812 solar, 426 wind, and 11 biomass.
The review of all documents is in its final stage.

“For the first time, we have both integrated and isolated storage facilities. For isolated storage, we have 675 MW, while integrated storage accounts for only 93 MW,” Bozhinovska noted.

According to Bozhinovska, the regulation on the construction of energy facilities has also been adopted, which every investor will be required to follow. The regulation clearly specifies what each potential investor must submit, starting with a feasibility study, regardless of the type of facility.

For 2026, the Ministry has received requests for the construction of energy facilities totaling 10,590 MW, including 1,697 MW from wind farms, 4,758 MW from photovoltaic plants, one 21 MW gas-fired power plant, and one gas-fire cogeneration plant. There are also requests for 2,573 MW of standalone storage and 1,405 of integrated storage.

“In total, it amounts to 10,950 MW, which is a significant figure. This is a serious number, and MEPSO will need to make a plan, meaning the grid will need to be strengthened,” Bozhinovska underlined.

She also said that the government plan is expected to be adopted by January 31, 2026, while the submitted documentation for the energy projects will be assessed in the meantime.

At the briefing, Bozhinovska also announced that the Law on Renewable Energy Sources will be adopted in the first quarter.
