Deputy PM Nikoloski meets UK Minister Thomas, discuss economic and strategic cooperation

Skopje, 23 April 2025 (MIA) - Macedonia and the United Kingdom have strong economic ties and high-level trade cooperation that can be enhanced through new investments, transfer of experiences and knowledge, said Deputy PM and Transport Minister Aleksandar Nikoloski during a meeting with UK Minister for Services, Small Businesses and Exports, Gareth Thomas, in London on Wednesday.
"The UK is Macedonia's strategic partner and strong supporter in the context of regional development. Therefore, UK investments play a significant role in the development of the Macedonian economy," said Deputy PM Nikoloski.
Nikoloski presented the investment criteria, with a focus on infrastructure, highlighting that the country is amid a strong investment cycle, primarily in road and railway infrastructure, the Ministry of Transport said in a press release.
He also emphasized the possibility of establishing new strategic partnerships between the two countries in the development and implementation of regional infrastructure projects.
On Thursday, Minister Nikoloski is scheduled to meet with representatives of the business community in London, Minister of State for Europe, North America and Overseas Territories, Stephen Doughty, and UK Special Envoy for the Western Balkans, Karen Pierce.
The visit aims to strengthen the strategic cooperation between the two countries, economic and trade cooperation, with a focus on infrastructure investments, reads the press release.
