Skopje, 7 March 2026 (MIA) - The British Ambassador to the country, Matthew Lawson, has denied claims that there have been or are any negotiations between London and Skopje regarding the acceptance of migrants. In an interview with TV 24, Lawson emphasized that the British government has neither negotiated nor intends to impose solutions that would be unacceptable to the Macedonian government. He stressed that no such agreement exists and never has.

In the conversation, the ambassador also addressed the strategic cooperation between the two countries, the prospects for visa liberalization, as well as European integration and London’s potential role in the dialogue between Skopje and Sofia.
