Skopje, 25 February 2025 (MIA) - Interior Minister Panche Toshkovski met Tuesday with the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Modasar Chaudhry, who is based in Sofia.
In a press release, the Interior Ministry said the meeting was used to continue talks on the intensification of cooperation in security launched during the previous meeting with Pakistan’s Interior Minister, Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi.
“Ambassador Chaudhry reaffirmed the willingness of Pakistan's Ministry of Interior to sign an agreement on readmission with the Macedonian Ministry of Interior, that would be especially useful for us in the fight against illegal migration as a transit country for illegal migrants with Pakistani origin. Additionally, we also touched upon the procedure for the signing of a police cooperation agreement, which, among other things, would include cooperation that would be realized through the Interior Ministry’s training center,” Toshkovski stressed.
According to the Ministry, “both countries, despite their geographic distance, have a shared goal – ensuring a safe living environment for their citizens by respecting their rights and in that context, both parties voiced a readiness and desire to intensify cooperation”.
