Skopje, 31 August 2025 (MIA) — At the request of the Skopje Fire Department, the national power utility has switched off for safety reasons the transmission lines supplying Aerodrom and Novo Lisiche with electricity, the Crisis Management Center said earlier Sunday.

The CMC said 13 firefighters were putting out the fire with five fire trucks at the illegal landfill in Vardarishte. The fire had engulfed an older building and spread over a large area, the CMC said.

The power will be back on as soon as the Skopje Fire Department says the electricity supply can be safely normalized, the power utility said in its own press release. mr/
