Gov’t orders extraordinary inspections of all businesses producing medical cannabis
- All businesses in the country producing medical cannabis are set to undergo extraordinary inspections, according to a decision adopted by the Government at a session Tuesday.
Skopje, 10 February 2026 (MIA) - All businesses in the country producing medical cannabis are set to undergo extraordinary inspections, according to a decision adopted by the Government at a session Tuesday.
“The Government has tasked the institutions to take all legal measures and activities within their competencies to carry out extraordinary controls of all legal entities that have a license for growing and producing cannabis for medical purposes nationwide, and provide a report to the Government within 45 days,” said government spokesperson Venera Azizi.
The Government will also appoint members of an inter-ministerial state commission for combating illegal production, trade, and abuse of drugs.
“Since its establishment in 2017, the commission has not been active and has shown no results. For that reason, the Government will require regular reports in the future,” Azizi stressed.
The decision comes after the Interior Ministry seized 40 tons of marijuana from several legal entities in the country
