PM Mickoski meets with MSC Chairman Heusgen and Croatian PM Plenkovic

Skopje, 15 February 2025 (MIA) – Current security challenges facing Europe and the region and ways to strengthen international cooperation in the sphere of security and stability were discussed by Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski during his meeting Saturday with the Chairman of the Munich Security Conference (MSC), Ambassador Christoph Heusgen, held as part of his working visit to the German city of Munich.
PM Mickoski underlined the commitment to improving the strategic partnership with NATO allies and the need to make progress on the EU path all the while stressing the country’s active role in the regional security architecture, the government said in a press release.
He said that stability in the Western Balkans is key for European security noting he will continue to make efforts to enhance bilateral and multilateral relations in this area.
Both parties concurred that cooperation is key in tackling global challenges and that the future of the region lies in sustainable development, economic prosperity and safety for all citizens.
Mickoski also met with Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic, the press release said, adding the meeting took place in the spirit of friendly relations between the two countries at which the importance to resume the political dialogue and economic cooperation was underlined.
The two premiers discussed bilateral relations, the EU integration process and the challenges facing the Western Balkans.
“PM Mickoski thanked for Croatia’s continuing support for Macedonia in the EU integration process saying the government remains committed to reforms in order to accelerate accession negotiations,” said the press release.
PM Plenkovic reaffirmed Croatia’s support of the EU path saying stability and development of the region are of joint interest.
Later in the day, Mickoski will participate in several Munich Security Conference activities, including an address at a Foreign Policy panel discussion, at which he will speak about geopolitics, energy safety and the role of global changes, said the press release.
