Energy Minister Bozhinovska meets IFC representatives 

Skopje, 14 February 2025 (MIA) - Minister of Energy, Mining and Mineral Resources Sanja Bozhinovska met Friday with a delegation of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) led by Western Balkans Regional Manager Nicolas Marquier, the Ministry said in a press release.

A special emphasis at the meeting was placed on energy investments and the transition to renewable sources of energy.

Minister Bozhinovska presented the Ministry’s priorities, stressing the importance of projects aimed at boosting energy efficiency and developing renewable sources of energy. She noted that the Government is committed to reducing fossil fuel dependency.

The IFC representatives voiced their readiness to support these initiatives, especially through the financing of projects related to energy efficiency, renewable sources of energy and decarbonization. They also underscored the significance of cooperating with the private sector and attracting foreign investments as key factors for sustainable economic growth.

Minister Bozhinovska stressed the importance of having international financial institutions such as the IFC as partners in the energy transition process and voiced her belief that the cooperation will contribute to the country achieving its strategic goals in the energy sector.

“The green transition will receive a significant boost with the increased support by the International Finance Corporation, member of the World Bank Group which actively supports the energy transition in the Western Balkans through various initiatives and projects and plays a significant role in mobilizing capital for investments in renewable energy and energy efficiency,” the Ministry said in the press release.
