Skopje, 22 March 2025 (MIA) - Our priority is double-fold, to complete the institutional efforts with integrity and undertake urgent steps in order to prevent future tragedies. We are improving safety measures and protocols, while resolving identified irregularities. Responsibility does not end with words but with action, said Government Spokeswoman Marija Miteva on Saturday.
Miteva said the activities for inspection of all facilities with or without licenses is continuing, with details to be available as the analyses are being completed.
"The Ministry of Transport is continuing to carry out inspections and we expect fresh information by the end of the day," said Miteva.
Asked if the current director of the State Market Inspectorate and the Minister of Economy would be held accountable, considering the dozens of facilities that do not hold proper licenses, the Spokeswoman said the Government is checking the current state of play related to licenses issued in the past.
"We need to scan the situation. The investigation is comprehensive and anyone who violated the law will be held responsible," noted Miteva.
On the announcements of citizens' gatherings and marches, she said this is a democratic right and "we urge for reason and trust in the institutions' management of the situation."
